The resolution recommended the creation of independent Arab and Jewish States and a Special International Regime for the city of Jerusalem. The Partition Plan provided for the termination of the Mandate, the progressive withdrawal of British armed forces and the delineation of boundaries between the two States and Jerusalem.

On November 29, 1947, the United Nations General Assembly adopted resolution 181, approving the plan to terminate British mandatory rule over Palestine and to partition the territory into a Jewish State and an Arab State. This is the Jewish version of the partition.

29 November 1947 – UN Passes Resolution 181 – The Partition Plan – Israel’s Foreign Affairs Ministry
The General Assembly adopted Resolution 181 recommending the partition of the British-ruled Palestine Mandate into a Jewish state and an Arab state. It was approved with 33 votes in favor, 13 against, 10 abstentions and one state absent. This is the Israel version of the partition.
