Machon Ayalon is a perfect family attraction: You view an audio-visual movie, discover the underground factory’s secret entrances, & climb down to the munitions factory via the spiral staircase. It is an exciting adventure story with a good ending. An optional “treasure hunt” game after the tour is available for groups. Suitable for fourth graders and older. This is the place to learn more about the Haganah and the Palmah, the forerunners of the IDF. As sometimes happens, the members of this clandestine munitions factory mistakenly identified the nearby riverbed nearby as the Ayalon. In any event the name remained and even some of the members changed their family name to Ayalon in honour of it. Check out the surprise ending to this post. What do you think about the two narratives?

The Underground Munitions Factory
This underground factory was really under the ground! What is amazing is that all the machinery is the authentic tools used by the Palmah.
