Rise of Christianity in Israel

Christianity grew from a 1st century CE Jewish sect to a religion across the entire Greco-Roman world.

During the apostolic period of early Christianity, the first apostles were alive and led the Church. Later in the post-apostolic period, an early episcopal structure developed. There was intense periodic persecution of Christians. The persecution of Christians by the Roman Empire ended in 324 CE when Constantine the Great decreed tolerance for Christianity.
