I was always curious about the village of Eilabun, near my community in the Galilee. So one day I took off and walked around the older section of the village which was settled by Christian Arabs, on the site of an ancient Jewish village. Located in and around the city of Nazareth(some 15 miles from the Sea of Galilee), towns such as Fassuta , Milya, Jesh and Ilabun demonstrate a unique breed of Christianity with an oriental flavor, well worth a visit when on a Holy Land tour.Eilabun has a memorial for local casualties of the War of Independence. It reminded me of similar sites in the southern Confederate states.
